Miley Cyrus twerks, stuns VMAs crowd

Lady Gaga has taken the MTV Video Music Awards stage covered in (fake) blood; wearing a dress made of meat and as her male alter-ego, Jo Calderone.

But at the 2013 MTV VMAs, Miley Cyrus stole Gaga's outrageous performance crown.

While Gaga came equipped with multiple costume- and wig-changes on her side, Cyrus took over the stage with gigantic, dancing bears and more twerking than viewers at home probably knew what to do with.

The 20-year-old pop star stepped out onto the stage a ball of energy, wearing a fuzzy gray leotard, as her hit single, "We Can't Stop," played. An animated and uninhibited performer, Cyrus' dance moves were a clear departure from her "Hannah Montana" days. (Meaning, they involved a crotch grab or two.)

When she reached the end of her song, the singer stripped down to a flesh-toned latex bra and matching underwear and began to perform "Blurred Lines" alongside Robin Thicke.

With Cyrus acting as Thicke's back-up singer and personal dancer, featured guest stars 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar went largely unnoticed.

"Miley better get a ... pregnancy test after all of that grinding," joked comedian Kevin Hart during the show.

Those watching on Twitter weren't quite sure how to respond. By far the most common reaction, as demonstrated by a photo of Will Smith's family seated in the VMAs audience, was shock:

Toni Braxton suffers wardrobe malfunction while performing on stage

Toni Braxton fans got a little more than they bargained for at her New Jersey concert last week, with the singer suffering an epic wardrobe malfunction while on stage.

The 45-year-old was shimmying a little too hard during one number, when her sparkly skirt came right off to expose her bare derrière.

But the trouble was, the singer didn't realise how much she had on show for quite some time.

Braxton carried on singing, obvious to the screams of the audience every time she turned around.

While the 45-year-old was wearing a nude g-string cut bodyskirt underneath the sparkly gown, the undergarment left little to the imagination.

Mid-way through the performance she realised the slip and attempted to pull her skirt up to no avail.

With the sparkly number still hanging from her behind, a male dancer then gave her his suit jacket to wrap around her behind.

But with the dress still hanging off her, she decided to completely remove it and perform the rest of the set in just the nude bodysuit and blazer jacket.

New Google Maps can help you avoid traffic

Mapping apps on phones have already replaced dedicated navigation devices for many drivers trying to find unfamiliar addresses.

Now, Google Maps will notify drivers about more traffic jams as well.

Google announced Tuesday that its mobile maps will now include real-time updates about accidents, construction and other potential sources of traffic snarls. The information will come from the 50 million users of Waze, the social-mapping app that Google bought in June for $1.1 billion.

The C-String – A Wonder of Modern Design or Just a Bad Idea?

In the UK, women’s underwear is referred to as ‘Knickers’ whilst in the US they are called ‘Panties’. These generic terms describe exactly the same thing and vary from ‘Bridget Jones’ style knickers to sexy lingerie. The G-String is categorised in the latter and only covers the most intimate of areas, making them a favourite with heterosexual men and homosexual women alike. Men can also wear a G-String, modified with a pouch at the front, but the common perception is that the male form doesn’t really suit such a revealing item of underwear. Now something new has been introduced to the knickers family, it is called the C-String and it covers even less surface area than its sister the G-String.

The C-string consists of the front part of a thong-style pair of knickers, held up with a little bit of wire at the back. The premise is that you can put it on and it stays put. Think of an unevenly shaped wired wristband and you’re almost there. The name derives from the C shape and you wear it around the gooch.

The manufacturers believe that women should wear C-Strings with outfits that might show a visible panty line (VPL), or even as swimwear so that they don’t get tan lines across their bottoms. Jumping off the top diving board whilst wearing a C-String is not recommended by the manufacturers, they also accept no responsibility of anyone charged with indecent exposure.

Now we know how “Sex and the City’s” Carrie Bradshaw could afford a closet full of designer shoes as a freelance writer: A new study finds that sexually active people make more money.

And if you do it more than four times a week, you earn even more, the study shows.

“There is a monotonic relationship between the frequency of sexual activity and wage returns,” Nick Drydakis, a senior economics lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University in England wrote in a paper for the International Journal of Manpower.

When people are having sex regularly, they’re happier, stronger, eat better and exercise more, researchers have found. Drydakis called sexual activity a “barometer” for several characteristics an employer would want in a worker or traits that could make someone a better worker.

“Being sexually active is a proxy for good health, and that itself is correlated with having higher energy for everything, including work,” Andrew Oswald, economics professor at Britain's Warwick University, said via email.

“Physical and mental health, as well as personality characteristics, are important factors that affect wages. The patterns found in this study strengthen this reasoning,” Drydakis wrote.

The “Sex and the City” bed-hopping cliché notwithstanding, marriage seems to have a lot to do with it. “Married people, particularly men, earn higher wages than the non-married,” Oswald said. “One possible explanation is that such people are sociable, stable people.”

Conversely, a sexless marriage appears to be detrimental to a person’s earning power. “Married men having no sex receive lower wages by 1.3 percent,” Drydakis wrote, calling the amount “statistically significant.”

Drydakis did have one caveat, which we’ll call the gold-digger variable: In some cases, a better job or higher income could be the reason someone starts having more sex, rather than the other way around.

“Higher wages may increase the value and attractiveness of a person on the dating market; higher wages may also increase purchase of gifts that are thanked for via sex,” the paper pointed out.

However, a 2004 paper published in the Scandinavian Journal of Economics written by Oswald and Dartmouth College professor David Blanchflower found, “Higher income does not buy more sex or more sexual partners.”

Drydakis noted sex is a relatively fundamental need based on psychologist Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, along with food and shelter.

“If basic needs are not satisfied, human beings cannot function. People need to love and be loved,” he wrote. “In the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and depression that could affect their working life.”

According to Warwick University's Oswald, “Happiness does raise productivity in humans,” so it’s possible that people who are having sex are more productive at work because they’re in a better mood — albeit maybe a bit sleep-deprived. Drydakis found that people having sex more than four times a week see the biggest wage benefit.

Actor Lee Thompson Young Found Dead From Suicide

Actor Lee Thompson Young was found dead on Monday (August 19) from what officials believe to be a suicide.

According to , the 29-year-old's body was discovered with a gunshot wound that appears to be self-

His camp have since released a statement confirming that his death is a suicide.

"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning ... Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed," Lee's publicist told TMZ.

Lee played the main character on Disney's "The Famous Jett Jackson", and currently appears in the TNT show "Rizzoli & Isles".

He didn't show up to the set Monday morning, so staffers called the landlord of the his Los Angeles home to check up on him. When the landlord opened the door, Young's body was discovered.

Janet Tamaro, the executive producer of "Rizzoli & Isles," tells TMZ that "Everyone at [the show] is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young."

Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young has died aged 29 after suicide.

There was no official cause of death, but Young's manager confirmed Monday that the Famous Jett Jackson actor 'tragically took his own life.'

'Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed,' said Paul Baruch. 'We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.'

Young's body was found at his North Hollywood home by police Monday morning after he failed to show up for work on TNT's crime drama Rizzoli & Isles, police Officer Sally Madera said. The Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned and pronounced him dead at the scene, she said.

LAPD robbery-homicide detectives and the Los Angeles County coroner office were investigating because it is a high-profile death, she said. Madera had no details about the cause of death.

According to TMZ, the actor died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Young's death remains a mystery because he did not leave a suicide note, TMZ reported, and although the actor did have a diary none of the writings explain the reasoning behind him taking his own life.

In addition, Young was last seen on Saturday and law enforcement officials believe that the star may have committed suicide that same day, the website also reported.

Young's death is the second high profile suicide in a week following Bachelor star Gia Allemand's hanging last Monday and subsequent death Wednesday, also at the age of 29.

Young made a name for himself as the title character in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson, which ran from 1998 to 2001.

He then went on to play running back Chris Comer in the 2004 film Friday Night Lights, before landing the lead role on Rizzoli & Isles for the past three seasons as Boston police detective Barry Frost.

Earlier Monday, TNT announced it was renewing the series that stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.

'We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace,' TNT, studio Warner Bros. and series producer Janet Tamaro said in a joint statement.

They sent condolences to his mother and other family members.

According to a biography from TNT, Young was inspired to pursue acting when, at age, 10, he played Martin Luther King Jr. in a play in Young's hometown of Columbia, South Carolina.

Young followed his stint at Disney it with roles in TV series, including The Guardian, Scrubs and Smallville and in the films Akeelah and the Bee and The Hills Have Eyes II. Young joined Rizzoli & Isles when it debuted in 2010.

Young said in 2011 that he valued his start as a child star.

'It's always a really great feeling when I talk to people who watched Jett Jackson, because we were the same age,' he told EW.com. 'We were all kids. I was 13 when I started working on that show and that was part of my childhood. And it's kind of like we have that in common.

'It means a lot to me when people enjoyed it and when it was a part of their childhood,' he added.

'It's cool when you see people revert back for a quick second to middle school, and they're like, "Oh, man! I remember..." It's really great to me that our work is still with people after 10 years.'

Young, a graduate of University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, was an avid photographer, traveler and student of martial arts, according to his biography.
